Williston, ND, April 5, 2016–I am announcing my run for Williams County Commissioner District 2. As a lifelong resident of Williams County I believe I will act on behalf of my fellow residents true to the shared values of our community. Engaging and approachable, I will be accountable to you.
My experience with public service includes many years with the Lions Club, United Way, various community building and fundraising efforts and currently holding a position on the Vector Control Board since 2008. The first two years with the Vector Control held many challenges, however our board implemented many innovations, including working with the US Air Force that has much improved the quality of life for local residents.
Currently I am an owner of a successful and growing IT business based in Williston. We are facing the same challenges that other businesses and government entities are facing with the slowdown in the energy sector. I value entrepreneurship and what businesses, small and large, contribute to our community.
I have also had the experience of working for Williams County in the past. I worked in the IT (Information Technology) Department for 8 years. During that progressive time I was an instrumental part of setting up a private fiber optic network interconnecting County and City buildings together saving thousands of dollars in communications costs, which is still in use today. We also developed the online property tax inquiry and payment systems, and setup live online election results on the county’s web site. Working for the County IT Department involved working with all the other County Departments, giving me a unique perspective I believe will lend itself well if I am elected.
With broad based experiences in both the private and public sectors, being born and raised in Williams County, and living through the boom and bust cycles I believe I am best equipped to represent your district. I ask for your vote June 14th.
